Description
Indri – Trini- The Three Wood
Piccadilly Distilleries was founded in Indri Village in the year 2010 and started distilling in 2012. The brand gets the name from this village itself. Indri also refers to the word Indriya in Sanskrit, which denotes the 5 senses i.e., Smell-Taste-Touch-Sight-Sound.
Our distillery has six Scottish-style copper pot stills–three are wash stills (25,000 l.) and three are spirit stills (15,000 l.). Together they produce 12,000 liters of malt spirit daily and four million liters annually making Piccadily the largest independent malt manufacturer in India.
Our warehouse has 50,000 barrels currently under maturation, with further expansion plans underway by adding another 50,000 barrels.
Our flagship expression (Indri – Trini) is a marriage of our malts matured in Ex-Bourbon casks, Ex-Red Wine casks and PX Sherry casks. Indri was released in India in Nov 2021 and in the international market in August 2022.
Piccadily followed a simple path of accepting the natural ingredients available in India, especially the six-row barley, which has been grown in the arid regions of Rajasthan for thousands of years. The barley gives us a more fruity and aromatic character as we work with minimal laundering, to extract a clearer wort.
The location, terroir and weather are what creates our whisky. Being in the northern parts of the country with extreme weather conditions, the wood interacts with the liquid quite intensively, soaking and releasing it back in shorter spans of time thus maturing the whisky at a much faster pace. If you stand in the warehouse quietly you can hear the wood and the whisky whimpering to each other. And the angels here are quite greedy, taking away as much as 10-12% share.
Our whisky is Non-Chill Filtered and contains no additives or colourants.
Indri is an easy drinking whisky, with sweet and fruity notes, and the liberal use of wine barrels provides the whisky deeper flavors. The distillery style is distinctive to any other whisky in the market. We proudly state that Indri is easily distinguished from other whiskeys due to its aromas and flavors.
